This, Too, is a Family

My post on same-sex marriage finally becoming legal in California, was going to be a lot different, more edgy, more challenging. Then I went back East to do the baby-naming ceremony for the youngest child of my wonderful friends Kix and Cathy. And I realized there is only one thing I need to say.

This, too, is a family:

Who has the right to deny it?

Congratulations to all the couples who will finally be able to make true before the State of California what has been true in their hearts, many of them for decades.

Blessings all,

    I agree entirely.
What i am unclear on is how defining that as a family threatens my family in any way?
How does gay marriage threaten straight marriage?
I cannot even figure out how to phrase that as a serious question.

Amen to that. And what a beautiful family they make.

Good lord, did you have to post a picture of me where I look like a beached whale?? I have GOT to lose that last bit of pregnancy fat… At least the rest of my gorgeous family looks good!

But on to (slightly) more serious things, thank you so much for coming all the way out here and doing the welcoming ceremony for Keir. And happy (belated) birthday – we love you!

What a beautiful and happy family. We need more families like that in this country.

I hope they have many many more years of happiness
