It’s a boy!

We have a son! After a long, long road here’s Alexander (“Alexei”) Darren Xiao van Slimming:

More later. Crying and celebration now.

Alexei was born on 9/2/09, and is currently in Fuzhou City SWI, Jiangxi. Other than a 2am feeding he’s apparently sleeping through the night, and waking up at 6am. He likes rice porridge, steamed eggs, and “meat cake” soup, so he’s apparently a Bill Cosby George Carlin fan.

Wow, a son! I saw your weblog in the RQ posting. That must be quite an adjustment, but I can assure you: Chinese boys are WONDERFUL. Hope you do not have a pink nursery full of little dresses… πŸ™‚
    Congratulations on your son!

    Yay again!

BTW, I distinctly remember George Carlin going on about “could be meat, could be cake…could be meatcake”. I don’t know if your household considers Carlin higher on the scale than Cosby. πŸ˜‰

  21. Bobbie says:

Congratulations! Boys are so much fun and this one is adorable. I’m so happy for you.

  22. darren says:

You’re absolutely right, jen. That was the “meatcake” reference I was thinking of. Normally I’d be horrified I confused Cosby and Carlin, but I grant myself a free pass for any and all mental faux pas yesterday.

  23. Guangdong says:

Congratulations on your boy! I received a surprise boy from China two years ago, and he is an absolutely wonderful child!

  24. Heidi says:
